Hi John - Yes, you are absolutely correct that there is a pressure regulator inside the dispenser device. However, the external pressure regulator with a filter has multiple purposes: 1. To ensure that no dirt, oil, or dust common in manufacturing environments enter the dispenser and impact performance. We occasionally receive dispensers with a significant amount of grime inside the units due to poor plant air quality. Having an outside filter helps ensure this does not happen. 2. Internal pressure regulators are designed for up to 100 psi of incoming air. An external pressure regulator can help ensure that no more than 100 psi will enter the dispenser if there is fluctuation in your plant air supply. We do not currently have plans to integrate the external 5-Micron Filter/Regulator into the design of our dispensers because so many of our customers use the external filter/regulator and it works very well. If you want your dispenser to last a long time and provide the best possible performance, we highly recommend it.
